Socio-economic profile of the profession
Focus on support for galleries
01 Oct. 2024
The Professional Committee of Art Galleries (CPGA) is proud to present its 2023 annual study, a key initiative to better understand and highlight the role of art galleries in France. Conducted under the direction of Nathalie Moureau, a researcher at the University of Montpellier, this study is based on responses from 171 member galleries, providing a rich and diverse overview of the profession.
Why This Study?
Despite the absence of representative figures, the art gallery sector is seeking to better defend its issues with public and economic institutions. In response to this gap, the CPGA is committed to producing up-to-date, relevant data every year, which is essential for :
- Strengthening dialogue with public authorities.
- Raising awareness of the specificities and challenges faced by art galleries.
- Supporting the sector’s growth in an ever-changing economic and cultural landscape.
Future Goals:
The CPGA aims to continue this annual analysis while exploring a specific theme each year to deepen understanding of the profession’s challenges and support its members’ development.
