Emerige/CPGA Prize
Arco Madrid
07 Feb. 2023
The Professional Committee of Art Galleries (CPGA) and the Emerige Endowment Fund have joined forces to launch the EMERIGE/CPGA prize, which will be awarded to a living artist active on the French art scene and exhibited at the ARCO Madrid contemporary art fair.
After the Etant donnés Prize, awarded in November in Miami in partnership with the Villa Albertine, this second international prize of the CPGA aims to support contemporary creation and to increase the diffusion of French artists internationally. It also aims to enhance the relationship between artists and their galleries: the prize money of €5000 will be shared between the winning artist and the gallery that exhibits at ARCO.
Galleries from all countries exhibiting at ARCO at least one work by a French artist or an artist living and working in France are invited to apply for the prize free of charge.
The winning duo will be selected by a jury composed of 4 leading French and Spanish collectors and institution directors :
Jimena Blazquez Bonte, Art Collector
Laurent Dumas, Art Collector and CEO of Emerige
Imma Prieto, Director of ES Baluard
Annabelle Ténèze, Director of Les Abattoirs
The jury members will visit the booths of the candidate galleries on 22 February before deliberating. The names of the winning artist and gallery will be announced on the same day at an awards ceremony at the Arco Madrid fair.
