Record attendance for Paris Gallery Weekend 2023
26 — 28 Jun. 2023
With almost 12,000 visitors over 3 days, the Comité des Galeries d’Art is delighted with the record attendance for this 2023 edition. The event kicked off on Friday May 26, the day after the gala dinner organized jointly with the Mobilier National, enabling Hervé Lemoine, Director of the institution, and Marion Papillon, President of the CPGA, to celebrate the dialogue between art, contemporary creation and crafts. Paris Gallery Weekend once again demonstrated the dynamism and indispensable role of galleries in the art ecosystem, with 101 galleries mobilized over 3 days around 7 geographical routes between Paris, Romainville and 250 artists.
An event that has become a fixture of the art market calendar over the years and since 2014, the 2023 edition of Paris Gallery Weekend benefited from sunny weather this year, and saw many Parisians as well as foreign visitors – who came especially for the occasion – stroll through the streets of the capital, enjoying guided tours and vernissages, registering a 3-fold increase in attendance compared to usual weekends. A large number of participating galleries reported several sales, often to new buyers, as well as visits from foreign curators and European and international professionals. The involvement of the CPGA teams, and in particular the real-time monitoring of the event on social networks, also resulted in effective media coverage, with over 4,000 new subscribers to the @parisgalleryweekend Instagram account.
