Anne-Laure Buffard
Founded in 2022, Galerie Anne-Laure Buffard represents a select group of artists to whom it offers tailor-made support, both to collectors and museums, forging privileged relationships with festivals (Les rencontres d’Arles, the Bratislava Biennial, 100% L’EXPO La Villette, Photo Phomn Pehn… ) and institutions (Victoria and Albert Museum, Huis Marseille in Amsterdam, MEP, BNF, Musée Guimet, Amis de Pompidou…), accompanying each project with a bilingual publication signed by renowned authors from the art scene (Fiona Rogers, Guillaume Logé, Grégoire Prangé, Michel Poivert, Nanda van den Berg…).
After eighteen months of existence as a semi-nomadic structure, in autumn 2023 Anne-Laure Buffard Inc. becomes Galerie Anne-Laure Buffard and inaugurates a space open to the public in the Marais district. This new location, close to the Centre Pompidou and at the heart of the collective dynamic of the district’s galleries, enables the company to increase the visibility of its projects and offer a permanent space for exhibitions and meetings. In addition to its main address, Galerie Anne-Laure Buffard is planning to open a showroom at 13 rue Chapon in March 2024.
The gallery works mainly with artists based in France but from different diasporas, such as Korean artists Park Chae Dalle and Park Chae Biole, Franco-Vietnamese photographer Nhu Xuan Hua, Australian painter Gregory Hodge (whose representation in France will be announced shortly), and Japanese ceramist Yoshimi Futamura. The gallery also represents French artists exploring new media and contemporary considerations, notably geopolitical (Ilanit Illouz, Pierre-Elie de Pibrac), feminist (Pauline-Rose Dumas) and environmental (Elie Bouisson). These artists take part in numerous residencies in France and abroad (Villa Dufraine, Montain School in Los Angeles, Pistoletto Foundation in Italy…) and regularly win French and international prizes (Prix Roederer, Taylor Wessing Award from the National Portrait Gallery, le 6B, la Richardière).
With a particular penchant for issues of representation and narrative, Galerie Anne-Laure Buffard represents artists from different generations and in a wide range of practices – painting, sculpture, photography, poetry, video, installation and digital art – acknowledging the porosity of approaches and mediums in contemporary art.
From the outset, the gallery has participated in leading international fairs such as Paris Photo, Art Paris, Art Brussels and Asia Now.
