Galerie Polka
Founded in 2007 by Adélie de Ipanema and Edouard Genestar, sister and brother, Polka Gallery is located in Paris’ Marais district. Its two spaces, with a total surface area of 300 m2, offer an open space for photographic creation, hosting a program of ten exhibitions per year and a photography bookshop where monographic or thematic works are offered as well as rare and/or recent signed editions.
To date, the gallery represents the work of fifteen French and international photographers, and collaborates with some thirty associated artists. Each of them brings a singular photographic writing, all marked by the will to use the medium to explore a documentary context. The gallery’s programming is based on exclusive productions and offers a series of exhibitions, in its spaces or outside the walls, whose ambition is to question the issues of contemporary photography.
Polka also publishes Polka Magazine, directed by Alain Genestar, whose aim is to take an open look at the vitality of contemporary and modern photography. With a circulation of 50,000, Polka Magazine is distributed throughout France and in major international cities.
