Galerie Richard
Jean-Luc and Takako Richard opened their gallery in 1989 in Bastille under the name Galerie OZ. They have gained international recognition by grouping together New York Camp artists: Arch Connelly, Christopher Tanner, Rhonda Zwillinger, Thomas Lanigan-Schmidt. They have also exhibited Choi Jeong Hwa, Robert Groborne, Robert Kushner, Milan Kunc, Joost van den Toorn, Christophe Avella-Bagur, Laszlo Féher, Erwin Olaf, Bae Bien-U… The gallery was renamed Galerie Jean-Luc & Takako Richard when it reopened in 2002 on the Ile Saint-Louis with a program focused on new painting: Shirley Kaneda, Carl Fudge, Paul Henry Ramirez, Kiyoshi Nakagami, Yek, Adam Ross, Tim Bavington, Hervé Heuzé, Beverly Fishman, Yuichi Higashionna…In 2006 it moved to the Marais and doubled its exhibition space with over 400 m2. David Ryan, Sven-Ole Frahm, Marcus Sendlinger as well as Bram Bogart, Alain Kirili, Ron Gorchov, Judy Pfaff, Joseph Nechvatal, Linda Besemer… have exhibited there. The Incomplete-Paris exhibition in 2010 brought together 28 artists collected by Hubert Neumann. In 2011 they opened a second gallery in Chelsea, New York and both galleries took the name Galerie Richard. In 2014 they organized the John M Armleder – Jean Carzou traveling exhibition in New York, Paris and at Untitled in Miami. Takesada Matsutani, Peter Rogiers, Dionisio González, Yang Yi, William Bradley, Lauren Marsolier, Norio Imai, Mari Minato, Li Wei joined the two galleries.
