Étant donnés Prize
As part of its action to promote the French artistic scene internationally, the CPGA has developed several partnerships with the cultural services of the French Embassy in the United States, then with the Villa Albertine:
• 2017-2020 – contribution to one of the artists’ residencies of the program Étant donnés;
• 2018-2019 – Artists’ Time: exhibition of works by member galleries of the CPGA in the New York premises of the Villa Albertine;
• 2019 – The 13th Floor at FELIX LA Art fair: joint stand exhibiting 15 artists presented by 15 member galleries of the CPGA.
The Etant Donnés Prize is named in reference to the prestigious Etant Donnés program, created in 1994, through which the FACE foundation and the cultural services of the French Embassy in the United States, then the Villa Albertine, have supported more than 350 projects of contemporary art, exhibitions, artist residencies and study trips.
The Villa Albertine and the Professional Committee of Art Galleries (CPGA) have launched the second edition of the Etant donnés Prize, awarded on November 29, 2022 to a living artist active on the French scene and exhibited at the contemporary art fair Art Basel Miami Beach.
This prize aims to support contemporary creation and increase the dissemination of artists from the French scene internationally, in particular at major fairs in the international art market. The prize money was $15,000, shared by the winning artist and his gallery.
